virginia creeper trail

posted by Michael Piwonka 5:08 PM
I went with Mason on his Boy Scout trip to the Virginia Creeper trail this past weekend.

The trail is a scenic biking trail that has been converted from an old railroad bed. The Virginia Creeper was the nickname given to the train as it struggled slowly up the mountain.

The entire trail is about 35 miles, all downhill. The troop only biked the first 17 miles, across old bridges spanning mountain streams. The leisurely ride is quite enjoyable.

The troop brought bikes with us, though bike rentals are a thriving industry in the area.

We camped in a nearby site, and woke up to a clear 35 degree morning.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
