progressive dinner

posted by Michael Piwonka 10:32 PM
For the holiday season, our neighborhood had a progressive dinner. My house was the second of three, which meant I was basically the "main course", after the appetizers and before the desserts.

It turned out great. I grilled a beef tenderloin, then cut it into slices, served with dinner rolls so everyone could make small "sandwiches". Combined with shrimp, spinach dip, an edible fruit arrangement that Martha generously provided, some deviled eggs from one neighbor and small quiches from another, we had a nice selection.

It was nice to meet many neighbors that I hadn't ever met before.

The neighborhood evidently hadn't had a progressive dinner in about 5 years, but everyone seemed eager to do it again next year.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
