My friend Martha gave me the beautiful Planet Earth series of DVDs. The BBC-produced DVDs are in Blu-ray high-definition format; however, I didn't have a player. So after some research I decided this was a good time to get a Blu-ray player, but comparing costs, the best value at this point is the Sony Playstation 3 game console.

Needless to say, Allie and Mason thinks this the best thing that ever happened. Hooked up to my HD projector, the kids and I now play video games on the 92" screen.

I purchased a family-friendly game called Ratchet and Clank. I can see how people can get addicted to these games, as the kids and I have a lot of fun figuring out our way through this game.

Of course, watching high-def DVDs on the PS3 is quite impressive. I have also wirelessly connected the PS3 to my home network; it will also serve as a media server and internet browser. I haven't even started to investigate all the functionality that it provides beyond being a game console.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
