more tax news

On the heels of the good news about a refund of penalties from the IRS, I also received my refund from the State of North Carolina yesterday.
While the refund from the state doesn't even come close to offsetting the amount I had to pay to the feds on April 17, there is something psychological about receiving a tax refund. Even though I'm simply getting back money I overpaid during the year (having lost all potential interest on that money along the way), it still feels like I got some kind of windfall.
I've been contemplating for a long time getting a high-definition projector and screen to set up a home theatre in my game room. I'm thinking that I may just take the plunge now, using my "windfall" to pay for it.Labels: taxes
