kings mountain

posted by Michael Piwonka 6:43 PM
The second part of our hectic Saturday this weekend was a hiking trip to Kings Mountain National Military Park with Mason's Scout Pack.

Kings Mountain is about 30 miles from Charlotte, with the park being just across the border in South Carolina.

A monument was created at the site of a historic battle during the American Revolution, one that is considered to be the turning point in the war. Up until the battle commemorated at King's Mountain, the fledgling country's future didn't look promising, but the tide was turned on October 7, 1780.

The pack watched a short movie about the battle, took the 1.5 mile hike to see the monument, then visited an impressive museum.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
