blue man group

I took a friend to see the Blue Man Group last Friday.

The show was loud, funny and entertaining. The theme was a step-by-step guide to becoming a rock star, lampooning everything associated with the stereotypical rock band.

Audience participation was included in the guide, allowing the audience to do all those stereotypical things an audience normally does at a rock concert. I found the use of cell phones as 21st-century lighters during the obligatory rendition of Free Bird to be particularly clever and humorous.

The percussion heavy show was highlighted by a gigantic drum that, when struck by a ten-foot-long mallet, literally shook the entire arena. Gotta love that.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
