mason's birthday

posted by Michael Piwonka 10:16 PM
Mason turned 8-years-old yesterday.

On Tuesday night, he selected a Chinese restaurant near my house for his birthday dinner with me and Allie. After a very nice dinner, we had Boston Creme cake at the house. I gave Mason a flying ring, a triangular boomerang, and a Carolina Panthers jersey.

Yesterday I met Mason at school to have lunch with him. He was wearing his new jersey, and showing it off to all his friends, many of which also had jerseys. Mason's jersey has Julius Peppers' name on the back; we met several Jake Delhomme's and a couple Dan Morgan's at school.

I always get a kick out of eating at school. I'm always amazed at the speed with which the teachers herd the kids through the cafeteria. No sooner than I started getting comfortable, leisurely eating my meatballs over rice (which was actually pretty good), it was time to buss the trays and go out to the playground.

The fast lunch works well for me, as it allows me to get back to work quickly.

Happy Birthday, Mason!

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
