mountain trip

posted by Michael Piwonka 8:33 PM
The kids and I had a wonderful time in the mountains this past weekend. When we arrived at the cabin, everyone pitched in to freshen the place up. Allie gathered some flowers to decorate while Mason and I swept and dusted. I hung up the hammock and put cushions in the wicker chairs on the porch.

We explored in the woods, shopped the boutiques, played in the park, and did some sightseeing. On Saturday, Blowing Rock had a art festival, where the kids enjoyed greeting dogs as much as viewing the arts and crafts.

I bought Allie a new handbag for her birthday. Mason bought a multi-colored glass ball, and the owner of the shop gave him another one for free, which made his day.

On Saturday evening, we drove to Little Switzerland for dinner with our friends from Charlotte. The hour-long drive each way was well worth it, as we all had a good time.

On Sunday, we went for a hike near the Blue Ridge Parkway, before returning to Charlotte in time for a party for the Swim and Dive teams.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
