closing on my new house

posted by Michael Piwonka 11:14 AM
We still haven't set the official closing date, but I hope to close within a week or so. We had planned to close this past week, but there were some issues surrounding plumbing that didn't pass inspection (I don't even want to know what those issues are).

I had an irrigation system installed, as well as sod for the front yard. The builder provided only simple landscaping plants, but the front looks nice. I'll probably add more landscaping over time.

I've got an appointment with a consultant to help with window treatments. I'd just as soon not have any window treatments because I don't care for anything I can afford, and they cost so much. However, having people see me in my birthday suit isn't desirable, so I'll get something that doesn't break the bank.

One of the first things I'll do when I move in is to change out the cheap contractor-grade door knobs and hinges. I'll simply give the old ones (which are still brand new) to Habitat for Humanity, letting my CPA work his magic on their tax value!

I'll be posting pictures soon.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
