I took the kids to see the Ringling Brothers circus last night. The kids really enjoyed it, but I found myself slightly bored from time to time. However, the circus is meant for the kids, not necessarily their parents.

I enjoyed the acrobatic acts the best, particularly the tumbling demonstrations. The clowns, animal acts, and comedic routines are geared more toward the kids, and are effective in reaching that audience. The coordination and transition between the various acts is impressive, preventing lulls in the entertainment.

The cost of the evening is really the story. The tickets were $24/each, and I purchased some (expensive) trinkets for the kids. Adding in parking, the total for the evening was about $130. While we had fun, I think we could probably come up with a better way to spend that amount.

I doubt we'll be going back again. This is the second time we've seen the circus, and it has lost some of its wonder. We're probably ready to graduate to something like the Cirque du Soleil.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
