charlotte checkers

Last weekend the kids and I went to watch the Charlotte Checkers get soundly defeated in hockey. It seems that our local team is fair at best, planted firmly in the middle of the standings of the ECHL.

It was the first hockey game for the kids, and they seemed to really enjoy it. And Mason was especially excited by the violent checking into the boards, which usually elicited a roar of approval from the otherwise bored fans.

We had much better tickets than we had at the Bobcats game a couple weeks earlier. Mason and I received new patches for our Indian Guides vests, as the outing was sanctioned by the Charlotte-area tribes, just as the Bobcats' game was.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
