back home

posted by Michael Piwonka 8:20 PM
The kids and I returned to Charlotte today, after having a busy and thoroughly enjoyable visit to Texas.

We visited friends in Dallas, and family in Caldwell and Houston. We were frightened by a grass fire, amazed by firefighters (Mason was even "saved" by one when he got stuck in the mud by the pond), and awed by the water-dropping crop duster. My mom said she plans to send a thank-you note, along with a donation, to each of the five volunteer fire departments that came to the rescue.

We saw ostiches and ostrich eggs, "harvested" bushes with huge thorns, and collected various insects.

We ate too much, attended a basketball game, and stayed up too late. We played chess, shopped, and watched entirely too much football

But most importantly, we shared smiles, laughter and hugs with our Texas family and friends.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
