origami

posted by Michael Piwonka 6:32 PM
The kids and I bought a live spruce tree on Friday night. We plan to plant it in my yard once my house is finished.

With Allie's friend Lily visiting, we made origami balloons to decorate the tree for the holidays. We painted them with acrylic paint, and after they dried, we hung them on the tree using hooks made from paper clips.

Unfortunately, we ruined some of the paper balloons by painting carelessly: the paint made the paper soft, and too strong a grip collapsed the balloon.

The best painter turned out to be Mason, who painted fewer balloons than the rest of us, but was more careful, creating neat, colorful and perfectly shaped ornaments.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
