The kids and I got up at 5:30 this morning to get on a plane to Texas. At first I thought we would have no problem getting to the plane on time, but longer than expected lines and delays at security gave us a little scare about missing our flight. Thankfully we made it to the gate on time, and had an uneventful flight to Dallas.

We spent the day with my friends Tony and Laura, along with their kids Alex and Cloe. Allie and Alex immediately hit it off, and the kids enjoyed playing with many neighborhood kids, leaving them thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day.

After a wonderful dinner in which Tony grilled steak and chicken, the kids took a shower before I put a movie on for them. They didn't make it through the opening credits before they were both asleep!

Besides having a lot of fun on the trampoline, the kids enjoyed raking, then burying themselves in, huge piles of leaves. After raking them into a neat pile, the kids would dive into them, completely disappearing from sight.

Not only did this provide entertainment, it also helped Tony get his lawn raked into one area, which will make bagging them later easier.

Always a friend of every animal she meets, Allie quickly made friends with the family Shih Tzu, Maude. And the floppy-eared rabbits, Delilah and Everett. And Ernie the guinea pig. And the fish, Mr. Limpet.

We're looking forward to driving to Caldwell tomorrow to meet with numerous relatives.
