new house

I made an offer on a new house this past weekend, and it was accepted. It is a new construction in an existing neighborhood, and should be ready for occupancy by January.

I've very excited about the house, especially because it has a basement, which is something I've always longed for. It will provide me space to set up a small woodworking shop.

I've already spoken to the builder about potentially changing/upgrading some of the items in the house. The builder appeared to be willing to do whatever I want within reason (as long as I have the money to pay it!).

I had originally wanted to buy a house in the neighborhood we've lived in for 4 years because of its location and friendliness. However, Penny had already put a contract on a house in the neighborhood, which effectively locked me out since she didn't want me living in the same neighborhood.

She had plans to possibly tear the house down and rebuild it after she gets remarried. However, she now says she is thinking about not buying the house because the seller is not fulfilling certain obligations of the contract. This is typical of my experiences with Penny: she can change her mind in a moment. And after I didn't buy in the neighborhood I really wanted.

But everything has a way of working itself out. I'm excited to be in a new house, with more opportunity to "tweak" it to my liking. I had spoken to my soon-to-be next door neighbors before I put in the offer, and I think it's all going to work out perfectly. There are many kids in the neighborhood for Allie and Mason to play with, and there appears to be a strong sense of community.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
