hayride

posted by Michael Piwonka 10:19 PM
The kids and I went on a hayride with the Pathfinders Sunday School Class at Carrigan Farms this evening. We went to the same event last year also.

The hayride is reminiscent of the ones I remember as a child back on our farm: a wagon loaded with hay for everyone to sit on pulled by an old Farmall tractor. The weather was cool enough to require jackets, which seemed appropriate as we traveled around the pumpkin patch through the woods.

After the hayride, we gathered around a bonfire to roast weiners and marshmallows. The kids enjoyed throwing pieces of hotdog buns into the fish pond, watching in amazement as large catfish gulped the bread.

It was a fun time for all; Mason quickly fell asleep in the car on the trip home. Allie managed to stay awake until we got back home, but not long after that.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
