Today the kids and I spent the day at Carowinds. We had a lot of fun riding various roller coasters, water rides, and other dizzying contraptions.

We even managed to take in a merry-go-round just to say we did, but we avoided the truly breathtaking rides. The kids weren't ready for the "big" rides, and I don't think Mason was tall enough for them anyway.

I got soaked on the last ride of the day, on some kind of rapids-emulating trip on a round rubber raft. The raft spun around as it careened off obstacles, and just happened to spin around so that I was directly below a waterfall at the absolute right moment. The kids howled.

Allie and Mason were exhausted from our big weekend, having practiced soccer, entertained the dog, played a soccer game, went ice skating, cleaned the garage, bought a laser printer, enjoyed a hayride, roasted hotdogs and marshmallows around a bonfire, and screamed our way through amusement park rides. They should fall asleep immediately after dinner.

Now I'm off to watch game 2 of the World Series with some Chicago White Sox fans, hoping the Astros can rebound from last night's loss.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
