mother's day

Happy Mother's Day to moms everywhere!

Penny had an interesting idea for today: she wanted everyone to go to Inner Peaks and do some rock climbing. We had a great time, and I think Penny enjoyed it as much as the rest of the family.

Allie has demonstrated a unique talent for rock climbing in the past, and couldn't wait to get going. She started on several easier walls, and then moved on to a harder wall. She got about halfway up, but was repeatedly stymied; she would become exhausted and would have to come back down.

But she never gave up, and kept going back to the same wall to prove to herself she could do it. Finally, after about 4 attempts, she made it past the particularly difficult portion about half way up, and scurried to the top! She was very proud of herself, and we were proud of her determination.

Mason may still be a little young. He would do well until he got about 15 feet up, and then I think he got scared of the height. He didn't have complete trust in the harness.

I climbed several walls, and will probably have sore arms and shoulders tomorrow.

This evening we went to one of Penny's favorite Chinese restaurants to top of the nice day.
