I built a wall cabinet for Allie's room this past weekend while my family was away visiting my in-laws in Georgia.

The cabinet, which will be placed on the wall above her desk, measures 36" tall, 54" wide and 12" deep. It consists of a couple shelves below a pair of glass doors, with a shelf behind the doors.

I made it from a combination of woods I had available in the garage, including poplar planks and birch plywood. Consequently, we will be painting it to hide the various woods I used.

This was my first opportunity to use some of my newest gadgets, including my pocket hole jig and my concealed hinge jig. Both work like a charm.

I'm getting confident enough that next time I will spend a little on some good wood, and make something stain-grade instead of paint-grade.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
