doll bed

posted by Michael Piwonka 1:05 PM
I made a doll bed for Allie's American Girl doll after seeing that she had made a bed out of shoe boxes and duct tape. I wanted her to have something a little nicer, so I pulled out the table saw and found some scrap lumber.

I created a canopy bed, using tapered posts and simple headboard and footboard.

Penny is going to paint the bed after I sand it. She and Allie went to the fabric store yesterday to get material for bedding and the canopy.

Originally I had the headboard and footboard in a Shaker style, but Penny said the style didn't match, and so I re-did it to the current design. One of my favorite things about the bed is the notched rails at the top of each bed post.

Now I'm off to sand and prep it for painting.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
