backyard camp-out

posted by Michael Piwonka 2:52 PM
Allie invited 4 girlfriends over yesterday, and they camped out in the backyard.

Penny organized the party, and had the girls bobbing for apples, painting wooden jack o' lanterns, grilling hotdogs, making s'mores (over our fire pit), and telling ghost stories.

We also had to set up our smaller tent so Penny could spend the night outside with the girls as they got a little scared. Oliver (the dog) enjoyed spending the night in the tent also.

Mason and I watched a movie in our bedroom because the girls decided that had had about all of Mason they could stand.

This morning the girls decided to have a marriage in our front yard: Allie and Oliver tied the knot. Mason was the ring-bearer, and he managed to drop one of Penny's rings on the sidewalk and break it.

I officiated the "wedding" in my Halloween priest costume. Penny videotaped the scene, and all the parents got a big laugh out of watching it.

The girls had a lot of fun, but will all need a nap today before they go trick-or-treating, as they didn't get much sleep last night.

Penny is still napping as she attempts to recover.
