landscaping

posted by Michael Piwonka 8:57 PM
Randy and I planted over 30 new plants in the berm at the back of our yard. The berm has been an unsightly dirt hill, as its location and clay composition have prevented any plants from surviving.

So we've planted several evergreen loropetalum at the base of the berm, hoping that they will conceal the berm once they grow taller. We also added some juniper and holly to add different colors and textures to the landscaping.

The backyard definitely looks better now, and should continue to look better as the plants get taller.

Digging holes, adding top soil and fertilizer was difficult in the hot sun, but felt good once we looked at the completed job. Thanks to Randy for helping, and to Penny for designing the layout.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
