microsoft and innovation

Being in the IT industry, I've been intrigued by the evolution of Microsoft, and how its incredible size has become a hindrance to innovation and future growth. I found another interesting article today, listing the author's perceived problems for Microsoft's culture.

While I agree with the article, I think the author has omitted what I think is Microsoft's answer to growing threats, and that is its application for numerous patents, such as this one for the double-click of a mouse. The plan is to use the US's patent system to maintain monopoly position.

I don't think the plan will work, but it will be interesting to watch.

random. arbitrary. completely unnecessary. yet refreshingly therapeutic.
